More generic grinding for cash. Getting all these base structures upgraded and parts unlocked sure is a drain on one’s cash reserves! For the most part this means we are doing those “Fly to point A, do science experiment X” missions.
Of course the first landing on one of these resulted in a tail strike, requiring a total rebuild of the craft.
We will rebuild after the SPH is done for the increased part limit
…or that was never queued.
More Random Contract Flights
(That one ran out of fuel because refueling is easy to forget)
The Bear is finally finished as well and gets it’s first flight.
After the last two flights, We are going to await some light remodeling of the SPH and some basic aviation technology. After all, while the little craft is great, it’s not exactly “fast”
Additionally, we are taking contracts to “test fire” a flea rocket booster at altitude.
Starting construction on a little rover while research is done.
It’s not “working” yet as we are missing the antenna to transmit the crew reports, but some time in construction of it can be started.
Bill takes the science rover out for some science! Its not much, but it’s honest work after all.
Honestly the design sucked because it doesn’t have brakes. Redesigning it for the next rollout.
V2 worked a bit better. Didn’t turn well though as it has a really wide turning radius.
And with that time for the world-famous “Fly a rocket up and launch it” mission. For this, we strapped a flea solid rocket to the top of a plane nearly the same size!
Once we make it to altitude, we fire ze rockets!
Success!
And Even Landed!
Version B flown for some science. It has retractable gear.
Starting up with some new challenge-ish rules for myself. 1) Fix missing testflight stuff 2) Spaceplane Hanger Only
With that we get our first “spaceplane”.
Day 5 launch
Turns out Parachutes are overrated. Its basically a perfect landing without a parachute.
And with that we have the science to unlock airframes! However, we are way ahead of our spaceplane hanger upgrades, so we get to do the 15 part challenge!
Manged to get it in the sky, do a crew observation mission, and return/land without crashing. Craft itself pulls very heavy, and requires alot of pushing down on the stick for level fight.
I also am starting to get to the point where I can pack enough dV on a rocket to push a probe out to Jool. So considering the primary mission here soon
Also being taken. Was planning on it anyways
Which means Surface Probes as soon as science opens up
232: new conract
We’ll send a goo container up on an old Thumper Upper Max
233 Surface probes research started
Landing Rocket Designed:
New Flight Contract
I’m missing the science mission for propecore…
Taking a new contract… there are no contracts, going to stockpile the rocket for now
will build 1 tiny orbiters for it. These will be one way trips using a modified upper thumper max sat, to met up with pre-existing satalite After rendezous we will send them out to somewhere to do science! (these are expensive probes.)
Upper stage
D174 Flight Contract w/ Kipper Karrior, all went well
Early Liquid Filled Engine R&D Started
The Kessna KaiCourier
Day 176 Contract satalite launch
181 Early Vaccuum Optimization started
(Working to a manned spacewalk)
183 Thumper Upper Max NRI rollout
Picking up this contract for the NRI mission
The NRI mission is a return probe
184 Probe has battery issues as main solar panels were destroyed during liftoff.
Mission is a failure as probe is inop
Crewed Capsule Research started
New Mission Package
194 Satalite Renduvous mission attempt (no aids really)
D195 Rendezvous success
High Performance Parachute Queued
Kerbin First now demands a spacewalk
Using a modified Thumper Upper, as it does not need to leave KLO
D199 – Mun orbit achieved
202 Starting Biologoical Research
203 Jeb’s first spaceflight!
Jeb reentered the earth at orbital speeds. Jeb has yet to be found.
Next “key” mission is orbital crew transfer This requires space backpacks or docking. (80 for multi-crew vehicles, 60 for extra-vehular activities)
214 Stolou Lifter rolled out
Multi-crew started
launch abort, roll back to put new engine on.
215 Stolou Lifter rolled out again
226 Fuel Cells R&D
227 Large Scale Construction
229 Large Tanks
230 Two manned rockets finished, Time to move people in space
New Contract to pay for upgrades to the tracking station
They are all on top of the launchsite, so this is a rover mission.
Research into Primitive Liquid Rockets started.
the Vroom
116 – Primitive Vaccuum Engine Research
117 Vroom rolled out. It rolled. Will try again later.
121 – Early Monopropellant Research started
127 Thumper Upper 2 Build and rolled out
Redo
128
Welp it went from orbit to intersteller object…
Starting research on reaction control systems
Next mission is an orbit itself
Accidental Isntersteller Object Confirmed
Day 139 First attempt at Orbit and Return (with a camera)
Successful retrieval of photos.
Started Solar Panel Research
Accepted a Mun flyby contract, the max can in theory make that trip anyways. Will change out payload for a science probe. Upgrading VAB to handle greater part load.
Massive amounts of base upgrade to get flight planning unlocked.
Space Research Research started.
Accepted:
using a modified Thumper Upper Max Sat Edition for it.
153 Finished Vrroom series local exploration missions.
On to a new plane contract!
154 Airframe construction r&D started
157 Developed Propeller R&D started
158 Heat Management R&D Queued.
162 Orbital Radio started R&D
163 Thumper Upper Max NR Launched to Mun for flyby and return
Thumper Upper Max NRI queued for Radiation Orbitial Research
View from far away. We don’t have patched conics, so doing manual fightpaths. This is gonnna suck.
